Technical Difficulties

Sorry to have taken so long between posts. I lost the USB cable for our small digital camera. After a week of so of looking, I bought an adaptor that didn't work. Then I ordered a cable from E-Bay that, you guessed it, didn't work. Finally I bought a multi-card reader yesterday and as you can see, it worked.

ITA Regional TaeKwonDo Tournament - Greenville, SC

Davis participated in his first TaeKwonDo Tournament this weekend. There were 5 kids in his age bracket. Three were Sr. Blue Belts and two (including Davis) were Blue Belts. They had to show their form and then spar. Davis won first place in the forms competition! We are so proud of him and all the hard work he put into learning and practicing his form.

After the tournament, we spent the evening with my brother and his family. We had a great time catching up and eating a WONDERFUL dinner. Sunday morning we got an early start back to NC. We told Davis and Rebecca we were stopping in Charlotte for a "rest stop". Stay tuned to hear about the trick we played on them.

I Hope You Dance......

And dance she did. Rebecca's dance recital was this weekend. She danced to "When You Wish Upon a Star" for ballet and "Jolly Holiday" for tap. "Jolly Holiday" is from the movie Mary Poppins, hence the penguin costume. She also danced the Daddy/Daughter Dance with David.

Rebecca did a great job with her routines and remembered all the steps. She even provided a little direction at the end of the tap number when some of her classmates forgot to exit the stage.


My dance recital allergies returned this year. Apparently I am allergic to the lights and music. They make my eyes water. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Below are more photos from the day. If you click on any of the blog pictures you can see a larger version.

Go Astros!

Davis played T-Ball for the Astros again this season. His coach joked we must be putting rocket fuel in his water bottle he was so fast! His skills really improved this year, especially throwing and catching.

My friends Dawn and Heather have started new blogs and boy have they raised the bar! I have a lot of catching up to do, so check back often.

Back-to-Back Birthday Weekends

Bruno leads off the birthdays on May 25th with his second birthday. It was his first with us though and we gave him lots of extra attention that day.

My dad's 75th birthday was May 26th, so we traveled to Wadesboro for his party. I think Pop had a great birthday and we enjoyed seeing everyone.

David's birthday was the following weekend and we had the family over for dinner. Other than the casserole and bread I burned, I would say it turned out ok. I'm hoping by now you know what Davis and Rebecca look like. The other child in the collage is our nephew Christian, Robert and Ivette's little boy. He probably had the best time of all of us at the party.

Breaking Wood to Build Houses

Davis' TaeKwonDo Academy celebrated the first anniversary of their new owners/location Saturday, June 2, 2007. There were games, prizes, demos and a Board Break-a-Thon to raise money for Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. The participants had 60 seconds to break up to 10 boards. They solicited pledges per board or in our case donations. David and I are so proud of Davis. After hitting up his family members, he hit the pavement. He went from door to door in our neighborhood telling people what he was doing and asking for their support. Overall he raised $155 and the school raised about $5,000! I wonder if they donated the scraps of wood when they were done?

Below are pictures of Davis breaking his boards. He used a combination of a hammer fist and front kicks to break 9 boards in 60 seconds.

These next pictures are of his friends and of the instructors. They sold chances to throw whipped cream pies to raise money. Before you laugh too hard, remember these two are fourth degree black belts!
